One of Tallahassee’s strongest voices for the homeless has accepted a prestigious federal job.

Susan Pourciau will be the new policy director for the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness. Pourciau is leaving her job as chief financial officer and director of Homelessness Training and Technical Assistance for the Florida Housing Coalition. She’d previously been the director of the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.

“Knowing that the Florida Housing Coalition enjoys a deep bench of experts providing training and technical assistance for ending homelessness is what allows me to take this opportunity to work for USICH,” said Pourciau, in a statement. “The Florida Housing Coalition is uniquely qualified to assist communities and Continuums of Care in Florida because the expertise of its staff and board spans every aspect of meeting the needs of people experiencing homelessness – from best practices for running a shelter or rapid rehousing program, to the development of permanent supportive housing and creating partnerships with tax credit developers.
