If you already responded to this Call to Action earlier (before last Friday when SB 586 was filed), it is very important to do it again, so that you specifically speak to SB 586.

Here’s Why:

  • SB 586 as currently proposed substantially and permanently reduces funding for affordable housing.  For example, in FY 2015-16, it would reduce the amount in the housing trust funds from $266.87 million to approximately $154 million.
  •  Florida voters never intended for Amendment 1 to hurt Florida’s seniors, veterans, the homeless, and hard working families trying to become first time homebuyers.
  •  SB 586 can and should fund Florida’s water and land conservation programs (Amendment 1) and affordable housing.

That’s all you need to do—just click here, fill out your name and address and fill in the message box with:

Please Fix SB 586, keeping the same funding for Amendment 1, without harming funding for affordable housing.

Hit Send.

The number of comments received will be the measure of how important this issue is to Floridians.
